A Palestinian woman Amal Tramsi, 43, has been killed and 25 others, including a journalist, have been injured by Israeli live fire and tear gas during this Friday's demonstration, as large Palestinian crowds gathered alongside the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip to take part in the weekly march. Several Palestinian medics were busy evacuating and treating wounded demonstrators during the protest. Thousands of Palestinians gathered at several points along the Strip near the border with Israel, and according to the Israeli army they burned tires and hurled stones and explosive devices toward Israeli troops. Since March 2018, protests and clashes have occurred along the Gaza border fence, as protesters have been demanding the end of the Israeli siege on the Palestinian enclave as well as the right for Palestinian refugees and their descendants to be allowed to return to their ancestral homes in what is now Israel. This Friday's demonstration has taken place after an Egyptian delegation met with senior Hamas members and Palestinian Authority officials on Thursday, to try and reduce tensions between Gaza and Israel after several months of clashes and of some exchanges of fire
