Mr. Woman the minority amendment the board of water commissioners,and as a representative in the Legis-lature of 1907, in whose proceedingshe took an active part, along progres-sive lines, introducing and earnestlysupporting a bill providing for adirect primary law, which even thencame within a few votes of passingthe House. Mr. Wadleigh is a Mason,an Odd Fellow, a member of theFirst Baptist Church of Milford anda public-spirited citizen, alert in allmovements for promoting the welfareof the community. 20; The Granite Monthly. One of themost prominent figures in the finan-cial life of the state for many yearspast has been Elisha Rhodes Brown,who, with Col. Daniel Hall and ex-Mayor A. Melvin Foss, representedWard 4, Dover, in the Convention,making up one of the most substan-tial delegations in that body. was born in Providence, R. I.,March 28, 1847. He was educated inthe Dover schools, and since earlylife has been successfully engaged inbanking, having been for some timepast president of both the StraffordNational and Savings Banks. He isalso connected with various railroadand manufacturing corporations, anda director in the same. He is a 32ddegree Mason, an Odd Fellow7 and amember of the N. H. Society S. A. R.,by virtue of several lines of patrioticancestry. He was appointed byGovernor Sawyer in 1889 to representNew Hampshire at the centennialcel
