They are simply cumulative evidence as to the qualityof the ore. Subsequently, in November, 1888, it was determined to make a mill-run of these ores; and to that endabout ten tons, taken promiscuouslyso as to represent the various groups and an average of their ores, weretaken to the melting and assay offices of Messrs. Johnson, Matthey &Co., Hatton Garden, Loudon, E. C, for treatment by them. This oreconsisted in many instances of solid blocks weighing from 100 poundsto 3,300 pounds each. The parcels were taken in the presence of theassayers from the original cases. Those gentlemen reported the fol-owing results after crushing, mixing, and carefully assaying 10 tons 3hundred-weight of tin ore, which was part of the shipment of 40 tonsby the steamer Erin.
