The mountain Fuar Tholl at sunrise, known as Wellington's Nose due to the face when viewed from the west around Loch Carron, Wester Ross, Scotland

Fuar Tholl is also known locally as Wellington's Nose due to the shap of a face lying down when viewed from the west around Loch Carron and the village of Lochcarron. It's a Corbett in mountaineering terms but only just short of being a Munro at 907 m (2975 ft). The Gaelic name roughly translates as 'icy hollow' . Although a few miles outside the village of Lochcarron it's a distinct landmark and background to the village. It's best seen from the village slipway and as you drive towards it you actually lose sight of the face on top by the time you reach Coulags or Achnashellach.
