We give on page 565 an illus-tration of a set of magnificent jew-elry which Messrs. Browne &Spaulding, of New York city, have prepared for a present toMrs. General Grant. The frame-work of the comb is of fine gold, beautifully chased and wroughtin imitation of two oakenbranches intertwined and exhib-iting distinctly the knots androughness of the bark. Acorns, fourteen in number, and set incups of gold exquisitely enam-eled, are depending from the twomain stems, one of them attachedby twigs and others suspendedby chains. The leaf work, set-ting, etc., are inimitable. Theear-rings have each a largeacorn as a pendant, with two leaves and miniature acorns above. The brooch. — ^77 —
