The Columbia River, carved though basalt by catastophic floods at the end of the last ice age, is the beating electrical heart of Wenatchee Valley. With an average flow of 265,000 cubic feet per second, it is the 4th largest river in the country and delivers 44% of the nation's hydroelectric power.
