Once the home of French Emperor Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte, Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie after being deposed in 1870 and both moving to England, where they lived at Camden Place until his death in 1873. His wife, Eugenie, the daughter of a Spanish nobleman, Count of Teba, bore him their only legitimate son, The Prince Imperial, and heir to the Empire.
