A NAVY wife who stabbed her sailor husband three times in the back has been found guilty of wounding with intent. Crystal Smith, 30, took an eight-inch bladed kitchen knife and stabbed Leading Seaman Simon Smith in the back severing an artery in his left arm. Jurors at Portsmouth Crown Court took just three hours to find her not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of wounding with intent. Prosecutor Barnaby Shaw said she fled the house after the attack leaving him in a pool of blood in their porch. Smith, now of Methuen Road, Southsea, wept and shook as the foreman revealed the verdict. During the trial jurors heard how Smith attacked her husband at their home in Gorselands Way, Gosport, after a navy night out on February 12. Smith claimed she could not remember the stabbing and came to seeing her husband lying on the floor. She was arrested in the early hours of February 13.
