Douglas Kennedy, operations officer aboard amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), presents a holiday wreath to Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Cmdr. Shin Makino, Executive Officer of Shirane-class destroyer JS Kurama (DDH 144), in the ship’s well deck during a holiday gift exchange. Bonhomme Richard, forward-deployed to Sasebo, Japan, is serving forward to provide a rapid-response capability in the event of a regional contingency or natural disaster.
