Scharnhorst at Grossgörschen, 2 May 1813, (1936). 'Scharnhorst Bei Grossgörschen, 2 Mai 1813'. Prussian general Gerhard von Scharnhorst (1755-1813) was wounded in the foot during the battle of Lützen, (Großgörschen), in Germany. Although the wound was minor, it could not be tended to immediately. Infection set in and Scharnhorst died on 28 June.
