Both brothers retired from the firmIn 1 <S6, and up to the time of their retirement they had token no activepart in the business for some years. Mr. L. C Chase died In 1887,and Mr. H. F. Chase in 1888, after the completion of a successful andhonorable career. They were succeeded by John Hopewell, Jr.,O. F. Kendall, wbo were members of the old concern, nnd FrankHopewell, and are now conducting the business under the firm nameof L. C. Chase •£ Co. Their premises in Boston occupy four spaciousfloors, which are admirably equipped with every appliance andfacility for the accommodation and display of the samples of theextensive and valuable stock which they manufacture.
