Homo erectus. Illustration of a tribe of Homo erectus returning from a hunt. Both the males and females are bearing primitive weapons and stone tools, and one of the males is carrying a kill. The name Homo erectus translates to \erect man\". Its forehead was raised to contain a relatively large brain of about 1050 ml in size. The erect standing H. erectus stood metres tall, perhaps more. Living million years to 200,000 years ago, this hominid was the first human type to spread from Africa to Asia. They had a mixed diet, were nomadic hunter-gatherers, who probably made tools out of wood."
