The D-shaped enclosure measuring x has several features found in circular broch towers: a high double skinned wall thick containing a gallery & cells, an entrance passage with door-checks & draw-bar slots to secure a door, & an interior ledge (scarcement) to support a wooden floor, balcony or lean-to. In places the wall is built over deliberately filled rock clefts & two straight sections of walling meet over an outcrop creating a weak point.
