In the district of Leblon, the most noble area of the city of Rio de Janeiro, seawater invaded the main street, Delfim Moreira Avenue, which had to be interdicted. Hundreds of city hall workers spent the day removing tons of sand brought by sea. Some buildings of the waterfront were hit by the waves and underground garages were flooded. By the end of the day still had interdicted areas and some of the kiosks were interdicted because they were hit by waves and underground kitchens were flooded.
