For speeds below 800 withopen throttle, the plain unheated intake-pipe could not beused at all. Even at higher speeds the economy was pooralthough the power was good, indicating poor the new design intake-pipe the engine could be runas low as 200 with wide-open throttle. However, thiswas not true with 2-in. plain-tube carbureters which wehave tried without making structural modifications in thedesign. Application of the exhaust-heated intake manifold made.
