Statue of the naval hero Admiral Nelson on the shoreline of the Menai Strait close to the Britannia Bridge, North Wales, UK


A statue of the British naval hero Admiral Nelson stands on the shoreline of the Menai Strait below St Mary’s churchyard, Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll close to the Britannia bridge. It was erected in 1847 by Paget (admiral and son of 1st Marquess of Anglesey) as an aid to navigation. The figure of Nelson gazes south west down the Strait to Plas Newydd, family home of the Marquesses of Anglesey. Photographed in evening sunshine at low tide.
