Agia Triada, a monastery in northern Crete on the Akrotiri Peninsula.

The Agia Triada Monastery is a Greek orthodox monastery situated on the Akrotiri peninsula in northern Crete, in the Chania district. The monastery is home to a community of monks and was built in the 17th century on the site of an existing church. The name of the monastery means “Holy Trinity” and consists of a number of buildings, including a byzantine style church and a museum, within a walled perimeter. Popular with tourists, who pay a 2 Euro entrance fee, the visitor can roam the interior freely. The church has three domes and is traditionally decorated with frescos within. A collection of relics is also on display. Until recent times the monastery hosted a theological school but these days it exists as a working monastery, producing wine and olive oils, which can be bought in the small gift shop. The museum contains a collection of icons, religious vestments and codices.
