A late 19th Century view of two young boys rowing across the harbour to the 13th Century castle in Caernarfon, royal town and port in Gwynedd, Wales on the eastern shore of the Menai Strait, opposite the Isle of Anglesey. Caernarfon castle, constructed between 1283 and 1330 by order of King Edward I, stands at the mouth of the River Seiont which creates a natural harbour where it flows into the Menai Strait.
