Coachwood tree set against moss covered boulder, Macquaire Pass Natonal Park, NSW Australia
We had some time to kill so I suggested going for a little walk in Macquarie Pass National Park. Unbeknown to Megan there was an alterior motive, although it was a bit obvious with the camera gear sitting on the back seat. Not long into the walk, on an incline I spotted a Coachwood tree with a large boulder green with moss behind. This was what I was looking for, a mix of textures and colour, but focus was going to be a problem in the one shot. As I setup I noticed the Cicada shell on one side and set to work including it in the composition. Being overcast the light was dull necessitating a long exposure of 30secs, fortunately there was no wind. I checked the focus on the screen and as thought, couldn't achieve near to far sharpness so I decided to stack the focus, and stitch the focused areas together later in a focus stacking program. Re-setting to f11 enabled excellent resolution and a not so slow shutter speed of 1 second. 10 images and half an hour later I'd completed the set, while I think Megan was wondering if we were going to get further than 500 metres into the walk. Alpa 12SWA, Schneider 47mm, Leaf 75s, multiple images focus stacked and combined in software.
