Hyla boans, the giant tree frog found in tropical South America & (as here) on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Males call from high in trees near the edge of rivers. Calling is a means of attracting mature females who are ready for spawning. During the dry season they descend to dig circular pits in the gravel beside the river in which spawning occurs. When the water level rises the tadpoles are swept into the river.
