In 1889 he was chosen amember of the executive committee of the Massachusetts State Grange, andoverseer in 1890 and 91.

In 1887-99, he was president of Barre Central CheeseCompany; a member of the Massachusetts Board of Agriculture from 1889to 1891, during a part of this time he was a member of the Board of Controlof the Massachusetts Experiment Station, and of the Examining Committeeof the college. He was much in demand for work in Farmers Institutes,lecturing widely over the state. Children: Eunice, Mary and Alice.
