An immense free range, wellwatered, is adjacent, upon which sheep feed a good portion of the year, andout of which fortunes are being made. A notable example of success in thisline is that of Mr. Robert Noble, who, scarcely more than a dozen years ago,was working for day wages, and who to-day owner of some 45,000 sheep, the wool product of which in 1892 was 210,000 pounds, requiring a train of 12cars to transport it across the continent to market. Many others have hadmarked success within a few years in the same business—some individualsdriving as high as 30,000 lambs and wethers to the cheap corn of Nebraskaand Kansas, to feed during the winter for the Eastern spring OLD MISSION, IDAHO. Fifty miles to thesouth are the great De Lamar, Silver City and South Mountain mines, nowthe scene of unusual activity. Bordering on Snake River at the southernboundary of the county are the extensive opal mines of Southern Idaho, fromwhich many beautiful and valuable stones are being taken. The new WillowCreek mining district, within the county, a recent discovery that promisesgreat results, is also being developed. Aside from these, placer mining is nowattracting wide attention. Much of the sand along the rivers of the countyis known to be rich in fine gold, and not a few persons are making good wage
