Private L. P. Goldehlag, a soldier for the 2nd Division, captured this photograph on August 7, 1918, at German Prison Camp No. 4 located in St. Aignon, France. The image shows prisoners of war housed in sunken tents, which served as their sleeping quarters. The prisoners were captured during the battles near Chateau Thierry and Belleau Woods on June 25, 1918. The photograph was approved by the censor and is labeled as #22702 in the collection "Photographs of American Military Activities during World War One."
