A blue beret on his head, pushed in a brown-grey, loose garment, which is fastened aroundthe waist with a variegated sash. The border of his shirt visiblearound the neck. In his left hand he holds his palette and him, on the right, a table covered with a blue cloth, uponwhich a large, open book, some smaller books, a mandoline, askull, a quill-pen and inkstand.
