The north arcade of the nave is of three bays withcircular columns, plainly moulded capitals with square-edged abaci, and bases which were probably mouldedwith a hollow between two rolls, now rubbed downto a single curve. The arches have two chamferedorders and are two-centred with a plain label on thenave side. The eastern respond is chamfered, and init is a small trefoiled piscina with a shallow basin, theprojecting part of which has been cut away. Thecorbel over this piscina which carries the inner orderof the arch is in the form of an irregular octagon, andits mouldings are very similar to those of the the west respond the orders of the arch are con-tinued in the jamb with a plinth at the base which. Plan of Hurstbourne Tarrant Church does not return on the sides of the wall, and a hollowchamfered abacus at the springing. All this work isclaw-tooled and probably well into the 13th century. The entrance to the north-west chapel, which formsthe fourth bay of the arcade, has chamfered jambs anddouble chamfered two-centred arch without corbels orabaci, with claw-tooled masonry, and seems of early14th-century date. In the east respond is anotherpiscina with stop-chamfered jambs, trefoiled head andshallow circular basin, the projecting part beingchamfered. The first three bays of the south arcade are verysimilar to those of the north, the only differencesbeing that the columns are a little larger, the baseshave three roll mouldings, and the capitals are of anearlier type. The eastern respond is also similar, butthe corbel at the springing is composed of mouldingssupported by a carved head surmounted by foliage ofgood early 13th-century typ
