On thecontrary the bird appears to prefer bushy pastures, recently cleared lands,and sciaibby woods. There is one record for Port Huron, St. Clair county,a specimen taken by P. A. Taverner, May 20, 1900; N. A. Wood found afew migrants on Charity Island August 22 and 24, 1910; a single specimenwas seen at the Agricultural College May 11, 1900; Mr. Swales states thatit was found nesting near Detroit by W. A.
