Gamaleia made the statement that the vibrio Metchnikovi and the cholera vibrio are mutually protective for the pigeon; that is to say, that a pigeon that has survived disease caused by the injection of a non-fatal dose of one vibrio is protected against a subsequent injection of a fatal dose of the other.
