The Battle of Pea Ridge (the Battle of Elkhorn Tavern) was a battle in the American Civil War fought on 7-8th March 1862 in Arkansas. The assault was under the command of Samuel Curtis, and it was a Unionist victory. The image depicts General Franz Sigel during the battle. Sigel was a German immigrant and was promoted to a high rank for his ability to recruit German volunteers to the anti-slavery cause.
