An old stove can be seen through the doorway of the abandoned schoolhouse in Cuervo, New Mexico.

An old stove sits in the wreckage of an abandoned school house in Cuervo, New Mexico. Cuervo, New Mexico is a partial ghost town bisected by US Interstate 40. The town was once a stop along US Route 66 with a population of 128 in 1946. The construction of the interstate went directly through the center of town and removed at least one street from it's center. Today the town has a "living" side on one side of the interstate with a post office and gas station. The "dead" side of Cuervo has this abandoned school house, town hall, beauty salon, several farms, store fronts, box cars and vehicles in various states of decay.
