The adult Trichina magnified is shown in TFig. 39- The sexually mature male Trichina, accord-ing to Cobbold, is about one-eighteenth of aninch long, while the adult female is one-eighth ;the body is rounded and slender, and the headvery narrow and sharply pointed. The modeof reproduction is viviparous. The muscularparasite, when introduced into the alimentarycanal of man or animal, is set free in theprocess of digestion, and in two days time reaches the adult.
