These letters tend to show that Peters stillretained the kindliness which in his earlier days had induced him to make his friendsbuy Wilsons landscapes. Soon after these letters were written Peters migrated from Knipton to Langford,in Oxfordshire. The reasons for this move are given in a letter from the artist, dated1800, to the Rev. Matthew Barnett, his deputy for the Provincial Grand Mastershipof Lincolnshire. Peters says: — Since I had the pleasure of writing last to you, a circumstance will remove myresidence from this part of the country, but my affection to the brethren and attentivecare to all their concerns will not be diminished by the distance I shall be at.
