Cathedral of St Domnius or Sveti Dujam at the Dioclesian's Palace in Split, Dalmatian Coast, Croatia, Eastern Europe


Originally built as Dioclesian's mausoleum within the Palace in Split, Dalmatian Coast, Croatia. Almost completely preserved its original octagonal form built from white stone from the island of Brac. Took ten 10 years a decade to build construct. Also marbe from Italy and Greece and sphinxes from Egypt. Became a military fortress and fortified town Emperor Diocletian was born in Salona in 236 AD and in AD 305 retired to his palace in Split
