Rolling armour plate for Royal Navy ships at the Atlas Steelworks in Sheffield, England, 1861. Formerly known as the Queen's Works, they were bought in 1856 by John Brown and renamed to form part of Firth-Brown industrial group, which pioneered the manufacture of cheap bulk steel in Britain, and manufactured steel rails and armour plate.
