The Line of Life. 107 Connected with the line of Life is the line of Mars,a kind of duplicate or secondary evidence of vitalforce, which may announce success in the camps ofVenus or of Mars, ascending as the other indicationsof the hand point to the tendency of the it will accompany the line of Life through-out its course, then riches may be expected orhonours. Sister lines are usually good omens,unless they appear with bad characteristics, when,. Fig. 12. instead of alleviating, they only serve to confirm theevil influences of the original line. There are some tokens upon the line of Lifewhich are best illustrated by small diagrams. Forinstance, we perceive above, in Fig. 12, a drawing ofa hand with two small points, or lines rather, on eitherside of this short line of life. These symptomsindicate a short life and sudden death. We mayalso find branches springing upwards and downwards io8 Chiromancy, from the line of Life, and they tell us of violentdesires and of fading health respectively, as under-neath (Fig. 13). There are other lines sometimes very clearlymarked, which arise from the mount of Venus, and cutinto the line of lie, &c. This is an indication thatour destiny is being, or has been, interfered with byVenus (Fig. 14).
