Cheesewring and The Druid's Chair on Stowes Hill near Minions Cornwall England

The Cheesewring near Minions on the southern flank of Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, is a natural granite outcrop or tor that has been eroded by the weather over thousands of years. It is over 20 feet high with a circumference of 30 feet. From any angle it looks like a pile of giant flat stone pancakes. Legend says that a giant called Uther had an argument with a local saint called Tue or Tudy - something to do with the weight of the stone stack. But in the end the saint won the argument and the giant relented. One other legend says a druid with a cup a gold that never ran dry lived here in the Dark Ages. So a giant and a druid for St Tudy to pacify, but many saints are credited with dealing with such characters. Like other stones, the Cheesewring is said to turn around when it hears a cock crow. A golden cup was found near the barrow nearby and it is now in the British museum. Another stone close by is called The Druid's Chair. There are a number of curious stones on Bodmin Moor, some natural, others prehistoric and some from the Age of the Saints.
