Spiral galaxy NGC 4603. Optical image of a type Sc spiral galaxy, which lies 108 million light years away in the constellation of Centaurus. It is the most distant galaxy in which Cepheid variables have been found. Cepheid variables are a class of pulsating star that can be used for accurate distance measurement. Photographed by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope in 1999.
