Howard, Samuel Bowles, Azariah B. Harris, William Merrick,and, ex-officio, the mayor of the city, the president of the common council,and the chairman of the school committee. The library is free to all for use in the rooms,but an annual fee of one dollar is required to entitle one to take booksaway from the building. It is open on Mondays from 12 M. to 9 , onother days from 10 to 9 The reading-room is open at the samehours, and also on Sundays from 1 to 6 The museum is open, free,on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 8 The Hampden-County Law-Library is in the south-west corner of thesecond story of the Court House on Elm Street. It was established in 1S60,at the request of the bar, by means of an appropriation made by the countycommissioners, and is maintained by the county. It contains over 2,000volum
