London, UK. 21st June 2017. Others had joined Movement for Justice's 5 mile march from Shepherds Bush before it reached Whitehall. As it passed Downing St, a small group surged towards the line of police in front of the gates. Other protesters pulled them back and some of the march organisers formed a line between protesters and police urging the protesters to move one. They then held a short rally in the middle of Whitehall before a consensus decided to move on to Parliament Square, where the march ended in the middle of the road. As it passed Downing St, a small group surged towards the line of police in front of the gates. Other protesters pulled them back and some of the march organisers formed a line between protesters and police urging the protesters to move one. They then held a short rally in the middle of Whitehall before a consensus decided to move on to Parliament Square, where the march ended in the middle of the road. There were more speeches and chanting there with protesters ignoring police requests to clear the road. After around 20 minutes most of the protesters moved as requested onto the grass of Parliament Square where protests continued, though there was still a small group in the roadway as I left.
