Plant bio-control research. Plant pathologist inoculating a wounded potato with a mixture of antagonistic bacteria and Fusarium sambucinum fungus, the pathogen that causes dry rot. This is being done as part of testing a new bio-control for its effectiveness at controlling dry rot. Biocontrols, or biological controls, are biologically sourced chemicals or organisms that can be used to control the growth and spread of other organisms.
