These signs are illuminated by eightor ten small-wattage lamps, half on either side, in simplewhite refractors which diffuse the light throughout theinterior, lighting both faces. Connection with the elec-tric railway poles is with ornamental iron bracketsclamped on the pole. While the cost of operating such signs on the railwaylighting services is inconsiderable, their effectiveness indirecting the public to its proper destination is sure tobe of value.
