Pego is a market town lying inland from the Costa Blanca resort of Dénia located in the province of Alicante, Spain. Lying in a fertile valley of orange groves surrounded by mountains. Pego's long history dates back to Palaeolithic times and throughout its varied occupation include Romans, Muslims and Christians. There are remains of ancient settlements in the surrounding area and beautifully restored architecture within the town to be found in the narrow streets. The 16th century church, Lady of the Assumption, is built in the Renaissance style
