Roman Fort Lakes District
After repeated trips to the Lakes District we finally came across this Roman Fort. Where we climbed was quite steep but well worth the view at the top. The remaining walls showed precision building with straight walls and exact corners. We could only imagine the isolation of this place during the harsh winters. It was a rare opportunity to see a fort away from any town or city which has not changed for centuries except for the ravages of the climate and the removal of the stones to be used elsewhere in the district.
