Arctic tern. Head of an arctic tern (Sterna paradisaea). This bird has the longest migration of any known animal, migrating from the Arctic, to Antarctic waters and back each year. It is native to Arctic Europe, Asia and America. Its wingspan measures up to 85 centimetres and it can weigh up to 127 grams. Photographed in June in Northumberland, UK.
