He possesses marked energy anddetermination and carries forward to successful completion whatever he undertakes. On the 19th of December, 1895, in Grand Forks, Mr. Thorson was united in marriage toMiss Eliza Brathovde, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brathovde of New Hope, children have been born of this marriage: Thelma, born in 1896 and a graduate of. All are natives of Grand Forks and the younger children yet inschool. Fraternally Mr. Thorson is connected with the Knights of Pythias and the belongs also £o the Sons of Norway and to the Norwegian Press Association of deep interest in the welfare of his fellowmen and desire for higher standards of livingis indicated by his membership in the Young Jlcns Christian Association. He is presidentof the board of education of Grand Forks, and has labored most earnestly in advancing theinterests of the schools. Partially tlirough his efforts the present high school building isbeing erected, and when completed will be tlio finest in the state. He works for all thoseforces which are factors in civic betterment, and holds to high standards in manhood
