The ornate entrance to Tweeddale Court on The Royal Mile in central Edinburgh, Scotland


The ornate entrance to Tweeddale Court marks the entrance to the close that once lead to Tweeddale mansion that was once occupied by Dame Margaret Kerr, daughter of the 1st Earl of Lothian. Over the centuries the mansion became the Head Office of the British Linen Bank, then it became the location of the Oliver & Boyd publishers (1817 to 1973) . In 1984 it became the the Scottish Poetry Library.
