Memorial of Henry Wolcott, one of the first settlers of Windsor, Connecticut, and of some of his descendants . us appears richer than any biographical remain, among the manuscripts before us, two of his longer religiousMeditations, — one of them founded on a passage in a book of the Apoc-rypha, the other on a chapter in the book of Proverbs. We had selectedbrief extracts from each, but refrain from giving them, on account of thelength of the preceding sketch. They justify the strain in which the writerin the Connecticut Gazette, whom we have already quoted, addresseshim in conclusion: — I congratulate you on all the good Publick Services you have done for may now sing a Requiem to your Soul, and join the rapturous song of good oldSimeon, Now, Lord, lettest thou thy servant depart in Peace, and, having beenfaithful in a few things, may you be made Ruler over many. His monument in the old Windsor churchyard is a tablet of brownstone, supported by five columns, to which the name of his wife has latelybeen added.
