It was not yet a money success, but it was acertain degree of fame ; he might go back to hisvillage with his heart at rest, his head high. TheState had just bought his picture, La Chanson duPrintemps (The Hong of Spring), and orders wereIxginning to come in. In 1875 Rastien-Lepage reappeared in the Salonwith La Communiante (The Communicant) and theportrait of M. Simon Hayem, two excellent works.
