Sampling biomineralisation bacteria. Jean-Francois Loubiere, founder of the company Calcite Bioconcept, sampling Bacillus cereus bacteria in a cave. He has developed a way to use this bacterium, in a nutrient spray, to preserve historical stone monuments. The bacteria produce a thin layer of limestone by a process of biomineralisation. This protects the stone monuments against further erosion.
