George Bartholomew reports a clean- up in everything bearing any resem- blance to a flower, Warren G. Matthews had a large stock of all kinds of plants and cut flowers for the Easter trade. In addi- tion to his Third street store, he rented for Easter week a large store room on Fifth and Main streets, which he used for the sale of his pot plants. He states that his Easter trade was "the best ; Much attention is being given to the beautifying of the city this spring by the Greater Dayton Association. Win- dow boxes, vases, flower beds, etc., are to be used profusely in the business section of the city, as well as in the residence district. Last year the flood rendered it impossible to do much of this work, but this year there will be an effort to make up for lost time. Mrs. L. D. Johnson tells us that her Easter business far exceeded that of any previous year, W. W. Horlacher, who is greatly pleased with last week's results, says it would be hard to determine which were the better, the cut flower or the plant sales. The members of the Heiss Co. em- phatically declare that this year's Eas- ter trade surpassed all previous rec- ords. They had a fine lot of azaleas, which sold at a good price. Mrs. B.
