Fine Free translation.—Good-bye my friend, I am going away. Analysis.—An interesting discrepancy between the tempo of voice and drum occurs in this song, and vpas steadily maintained during the five renditions. The chief interest of the melody lies in the frequent use of the fourth, and in the measure that was sung between the renditions. The singing continued after the end of the phonograph cylinder had been reached but, from listening to the singing, it appears that the end of the melody is on E, as indicated in the transcription. It is probable that the person who sang the next song had received a gift of money at a dance. He was impressed by the amount and thought he might afford a room at the village hotel, which is regarded as the height of luxury. No. 54.
